How to decrease buyer’s remorse?

Work with The Spouses Selling Houses Team!

I bet you have heard of the term buyer’s remorse - that feeling of regret or second guessing after making a large purchase. It happens in our industry too, when new homeowners second guess the home they just bought. The Spouses Selling Houses Team has the experience and systems to limit the possibility of buyer’s remorse as much as possible. And a study shows that on average, 68% of those who don’t use a professional have buyer’s remorse within a year!

Let The Spouses Selling Houses Team help! When we work with our buyers we discuss:

  • Budget - we require all our buyer’s to get a “pre-approval” from a lender. They can help you understand what you can afford, with the taxes too – so you won’t be surprised. We have qualified lenders we can suggest. And they are in the know with special new buyer programs to ease the financial stress.
  • Your needs and wants – we take the time to understand where, what and why you want before we go looking! Besides the usual number of bedrooms and baths there can be so much more! What kind of bathroom – tub or shower? Room sizes are important to fit your furniture - are you happy with your current bedroom size – what is that so we don’t find something smaller, what about the neighborhood - want near a park or not, does the sound of trains drive you crazy, what direction does the house face? We have market stats and info to help with all of that. Plus working with a realtor we have more access to finding that home for you!
  • It’s the little things - that matter. How long will it take you to get to school or work from this new location? What is is like at different times of the day? Loud or quiet? What are the neighbors like? –we suggest you talk to them before you buy. And when we visit, we have been in many homes, we can point something out to you that you may not have noticed. That is what we are here for – more eyes on something always helps!
  • Inspection – we encourage our buyers to hire one (we have suggestions). A good inspector will point out the things that need to be fixed now or in the future.
  • Lawyer – another essential piece of the buying process – especially one who knows real estate buys can help to make the purchase go smoothly and efficiently. This is soimportant when you find that home you really want!

It is natural to have some second thoughts after your home purchase… it is one of the largest financial transactions you will make in your lifetime. However with the above steps and hopefully working with our team, that buyer’s remorse will be minimal or even nonexistent!

Jessa, eager to catch up with her long-time friend Kiel, arranged a yearly January get-together to exchange thoughtful gifts and share life updates. After their heartwarming reunion, Jessa continued her day by exploring a brand new bookstore, where she discovered two captivating books that simply had to come home with her.
