Say Goodbye to Common Household Stains!
Let’s face it, stains are a pain! And they always happen when you really don’t have to time to deal with it.
Here are a few tips that might ease the burden:
Stain-removal basics
- Act quickly
- Check the care instructions
- Absorb liquid with a clean cloth
- Avoid rubbing
- Spot-test before using a stain removing solution
- Cold water is best as hot could set the stain more
- Repeat the process
Carpet stains
- Mud - allow to dry and then vacuum. Dap the area with 1 teaspoon dishwashing liquid and 2 C water and repeat. Rinse with water.
- Nail polish - Dab the stain with rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. Alternate with clean paper towels and new cotton balls. Finish with a damp rag over the area.
- Red wine - Pour salt over the stain and let it sit overnight. Vacuum up the next day.
Clothing stains
- Coffee - Drench the stain with 1 part vinegar/1 part water, then blot with a clean cloth.
- Food grease/oil - Apply dishsoap and scrub gently with your fingers or a brush, then rinse.
- Ink- apply plain-white, non-gel toothpaste, rub gently to lift the stain away.
- Wine - Salt can be used here too as well as after blotting try either club soda or a mixture of dishsoap and peroxide, then wash in cold water.

Good Luck!
