4 Housing Market Myths Hurting Buyers and Sellers
1. The housing market is about to crash, just like in 2008.
The reality is conditions are not at all like they were in 2008.
2. Owners have such good rates, they will never sell.
The reality is there are always life events that force homeowners to sell -- job relocations, upsizing, downsizing or the want to move closer to family.
3. As rates rise, home prices will drop.
The fact is home prices have been all over the place this year and vary from city to city. The strategy of “date the rate, marry the house” applies here. You can always refinance later, and today’s housing prices will likely be higher when those lower interest rates return.
4. Good-credit buyers are subsidizing buyers with bad credit.
This is truly a myth! Buyers with poor credit always pay a higher interest rate than buyers with good credit.
